Chester (PA) Alumnae Chapter has launched its four-part “Buy Back the Block” Series

“From Crisis to Clarity: Evictions and Foreclosures” was the first part in this Four-Part Series.  Chester Alumnae Chapter partnered with Clarifi, a Philadelphia, PA based not-for-profit focusing on financial literacy, credit repair, and wealth building.  The program was developed in response to the chapter’s recognition of the disproportionate ways that the COVID 19 crisis has impacted Black and Brown homeowners. CAC’s Economic Development and Social Action committees partnered for this initiative, which provided the local community with guidance surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic-related evictions protections and foreclosure avoidance programs, as well as, other available assistance and residents’ rights during these uncertain times.

This first session was well attended, as the chapter utilized both Zoom and Facebook Live. There have been more than 60 participants and 525 views on social media so far!  The first part can be viewed here: https://www.facebook.com/1603520626611916/videos/664892907723566

Part two, Credit REaDy: Building your Investment Foundation, was held on Nov. 19, 2020, and featured Dr. Roberta Hoskie, author of “Poverty Curse Broken,” as well as two local credit counselors. Parts three and four are to be determined.
