Chester (PA) Alumnae Hosts Adopt a Black-Owned Business

COVID-19 does not mean that service is on hold! On Sept. 13, 2020, Chester
(PA) Alumnae Chapter President Yolanda Hughes and chapter members, maintaining social
distancing and state mandated precautions, hosted an Economic Development and Social
Action Event to adopt a local Black-Owned Business.

Although participants were not able to gather, sorority and community members were able
to drive-through Siddiq’s Real Fruit Water Ice, located in Chester PA. This initiative was
supported by 30 chapter members and more than 75 community members. The initiative generated a 50 percent increase in
revenue for the business Sunday over Sunday.

To commemorate the event, Siddiq’s created a signature flavor just for the Chester Alumnae Chapter, “Deltaberry,” which sold out!
Attendees also received information on the importance of voting, and information on how to register to vote.
