Eastern Regional Director Rosie Allen-Herring and Eastern Regional Representative Nadege DeBrosse hosted their first Virtual Town Hall on Nov. 15, 2020. The gathering was meant to provide a forum for chapter presidents and primary advisors to have candid conversations with regional leadership, to receive timely updates and share best practices. The event also was   designed to equip leaders to regroup, reorganize, redefine paradigms, communicate, inspire and motivate.

As the sorority year began amidthe global pandemic, leadership began the call with a “pulse check” poll to see how chapter leaders were dealing with all the challenges they face. The majority responded with optimism about the future while some expressed stress or concern.

Allen-Herring and DeBrosse provided a “Day in the Life” overview of what each does to provide local leaders context for their regional roles. Both mentioned the smooth transition from the previous administration, the selection and onboarding process of the leadership team as well as DID facilitators, updates to chapter program planning and development given the virtual environment and advancements in university engagement. In addition, they offered highlights from the recently held highly successful Red Table Talk Delta “Dear Moments” and Collegiate Chat.

Allen-Herring reminded presidents and advisers that State Coordinators and State Facilitators should be their first line of defense should they need immediate assistance. She also noted that chapter leaders that chapters don’t have to do everything, but rather be selective in what programs you put into motion based on your resources and the communities you serve.

At the time of the call, Allen-Herring noted that 96 chapters were in full compliance and 34 had been given provisional allowance to operate. However, she was confident that the region will achieve 100 percent compliance.

Eastern Region Member National Scholarship and Standards Marie-Carmel Durandisse Pressley provided the nearly 300 attendees with a timeline for the approval process of outstanding Policies & Procedures. She also encouraged chapter leaders to be on the lookout for spring 2021 Scholarship SEED Grants.

Eastern Region National Nominating Committee Member Kasey Edwards asked chapter leaders to consider running for office within the sorority. The call for nominations will be released in late fall.

New Jersey State Coordinator Dr. Donna Marable provided the opening prayer and inspiration. The forum was moderated by Delaware State Coordinator Tasha Butler, Tri-State State Coordinator Roxann Cooke, Connecticut State Coordinator Veronica DeLandro and New York Metro State Coordinator Randi N. Gray.

There’s plenty more to come, so be on the lookout as Director Allen-Herring keeps “elevating,” while Representative DeBrosse makes “boss moves.”
